Public Works minister promises new bridge across Para Creek

PARAMARIBO – The hole in the bridge that runs across the Para Creek still has not been fixed but Public Works Minister Riad Nurmohammed told Times of Suriname that the bridge would first be repaired before a call for tenders would be issued for the construction of a new bridge across the Para Creek. Meanwhile the Public Works Ministry has placed a concrete block in front of the hole to keep cars from driving in the hole. But within 24 hours a car slammed into the big concrete block.

Many cars had slammed into these concrete blocks when they were placed in the Van ’t Hogerhuysstraat several years ago. The concrete blocks were therefore removed. The ministry has made it clear that trucks that weigh more than 5 tonnes are not allowed to drive over the bridge across the Para Creek because of the hole in the bridge…[+]
