PARAMARIBO – A man who had been arrested on a rob­bery charge was acquitted. But shortly after his release he was arrested again for the same crime. Donovan S. ended up in jail after he was labeled as the criminal who had robbed a jeweller. When the Public Prosecutor’s Office failed to present any evidence, the de­fense attorney demanded an acquit­tal.

Donovan’s accomplice, Dino D, risks spending the next 12 months in prison if he is found guilty of armed robbery. Both suspects denied any involvement in the armed robbery. The police tracked down Dino D. after they had watched the security footage which showed the car that Dino’s girlfriend had rented. Dino D. was also in possession of an illegal gun when he was arrested. The juweller was robbed on August 14th, 2023 by five masked gunmen.
