The refinery of the State Oil Company (Staatsolie) which is located at  Tout Lui Faut has been offline since December 23rd. Sources told Times of Suriname that the refinery will be operational again on February 7th. The refinery went offline at a time when attempts were made to increase production in order to meet the growing demand. The departure of 30 skilled and experienced operators made it difficult to speed up the procedures at the refinery that as launched on August 9th, 1992. Capacity at the refinery was expended in 2010. One noticeable fact is that technical problems seem to plague the refinery every five years. The refinery also experienced technical difficulties in 2010, 2015 and 2020.
