Suriname to acquire Suralco on July 1

SURINAME – The Surinamese government and Alcoa have reached an agreement aimed at handing the  Suriname Aluminum Company (Suralco) over to Suriname on July 1, 2015. The planned ‘take-over’ of Suralco, would include mining, refining and Afobaka hydroelectric operations. Both parties also plan on ending the Brokopondo agreement. The take-over reportedly won’t cost the Surinamese government anything. This is what the presidential commission that consists of  Dilip Sardjoe, Marc Waaldijk and Gillmore Hoefdraad agreed with Alcoa on behalf of the Surinamese government.
