“Suriname will also notice alarming increase of new cancer cases”

“The number of cancer cases will increase in the next twenty years if risk factors such as alcohol abuse, sugar consumption and obesity are not tackled,” said Purcy Oliveira, chairman of the Surinamese  Cancer Patients Association  (SKV). The World Cancer Report, produced by the World Health Organization’s specialized cancer agency predicted that new cancer cases would  rise from an estimated 14 million annually in 2012 to 22 million within two decades.
