Taxi driver robbed by client and accomplice
Two suspects were arrested shortly after 42-year-old R.M. who is a taxi driver was robbed by them. 28-year-old K.A. and 17-year-old K.S. were arrested at the police checkpoint that is located at Burnside in the Coronie District. The taxi driver told the police that one of his regular clients had called him for a taxi ride. When he picked up the client, another man also got into the car. When they approached Henar one of the passengers forced the taxi driver to transport drugs from Nickerie to Paramaribo. After the taxi driver had refused to comply, he was forced to pull over before being attacked by his passengers. Both passengers tried to strangle the taxi driver with a cable. The taxi driver resisted so the passengers kicked him out of his car. The passengers exited the vehicle before assaulting the taxi driver again. They also managed to hit him with his own car twice. The taxi driver managed to escape before hiding in the bushes. After a while the taxi driver managed to hitch a ride to the police station located at Henar.
