Ten corpses still in AZP morgue

The Police Force Suriname (KPS) is looking for the relatives of ten people whose bodies have been at the morgue of the Academic Hospital Paramaribo  (AZP) for several months. Police Spokesman Milton Kensmil told  Times of Suriname that if nobody shows up to claim these bodies within the next two weeks, the bodies will be buried. Three bodies have been at this morgue since 2022 while the remaining seven have been there since 2023. Investigators suspect that these people were either homeless or foreigners.

Foreigners usually have no relatives in Suriname which explains why nobody has claimed these bodies. If relatives do show up to claim these bodies the financial aspect of the funerals could be discussed.…[+]
