PARAMARIBO – 25-year-old Aaliyah S. set fire to her boyfriend’s uniform and diplomas when she found out that he was having an affair. She reportedly caught her boyfriend who works as a prison guard red-handed with another woman. Judge Jimmy Kasdipowidjojo acquitted the woman of all charges as he took into account that the defendant was shocked to see her boyfriend with his mistress. After the defendant had caught her boyfriend, he left the scene with his mistress. The defendant felt belittled so she went home and set fire to her boyfriend’s uniform and diplomas. Aliyah S. also does not have to cover the damages. Her boyfriend had  pressed charges against her because his uniform is valued at nearly one thousand American dollars.
